Biography

Dr. Breedon is engaged at CSIRO as a Principal Research Scientist and leads one of CSIRO’s nine Cross-Cutting Capabilities (CCCs), focussing on Robotics, the Internet of Things and Sensing. He has specialised in leading and delivering results for applied multidisciplinary research and development projects in CSIROs Future Science Platforms (FSPs).

Dr. Breedon has broad expertise having worked on a variety of multidisciplinary scientific and engineering projects at CSIRO, including sensing technologies, condensed matter physics and quantum chemistry, prototype and device development, chemical synthesis, robotics, high throughput experimentation, machine learning, autonomous science, and general material science. He has been involved in the generation of several new intellectual property platforms and has patents filed in areas of high throughput robotic testing, autonomous science, static mixer design and sensor platforms.

He is also an advocate for SME engagement within the Australian research sector and acts as a part-time CSIRO Kick-Start facilitator and I2G mentor, helping Australian SMEs successfully navigate the complexities of engaging with research providers.

Dr. Breedon has active collaborations in the research community, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications and an h-index of 24, having been cited over 2500 times (Google Scholar). He is passionate about bringing together unconventional research teams from different disciplines to solve complex real-world challenges.
