Biography

Dr Jill Freyne is the Deputy Chief Scientist at CSIRO. Jill joined CSIRO in 2013 and has held a number of leadership roles in digital health research, working extensively with government and industry partners.

A highly experienced leader in digital health service delivery, Jill is recognised in Australia and internationally for her work in transformative health technology solutions. She is passionate about improving equity and accessibility in the healthcare industry and has extensive experience in leading teams to devise sustainable health innovations. Jill joined CSIRO in 2013 and has held leadership roles in digital health research, working extensively with government and industry partners.

In her former role as the Deputy Research Director of the Australian eHealth Research Centre, she oversaw the innovation of sustainable health technologies in areas such as digital therapeutics and mobile health, clinical terminology and data interoperability, health data analytics, Artificial Intelligence and genomics initiatives.

Jill is committed to building deep connections across the health system to drive the adoption and acceleration of innovative new technologies that deliver more efficient and engaging services. Jill is a Board Member of the New South Wales Smart Sensing Network (NSSN) and of Griffith University’s School of Information and Communication Technology and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She received her PhD in Computer Science from University College Dublin in Ireland and has held positions at University College Dublin and IBM Research, USA.
