Biography

Ryan has built a career in statistics, data and science leadership. Previously he worked in the Australian and British statistics bureaus, and within the telecommunications sector. Since joining CSIRO in 2005 he has filled a range of leadership roles, and built a science career around the economic modelling of human behaviour. Most recently Ryan led a program of work focused on boosting the value of Australia's agricultural exports, and in this role focused on agritech including commercialisation of digital tools. In 2024 he started as digital lead for CSIRO Environment.
