Current Position Peter undertakes consulting work and model development in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling for companies in the mineral processing, chemical processing, petroleum and power generation industries. Expertise is in the area of developing and applying CFD models of gas---particle flows to better understand and solve problems in industrial plant.
Recent high profile project have been performed for Hydro Aluminium, HIsmelt, Syncrude Canada, Alstom Power, Southern Pacific Petroleum, Caltex, Zinifex, AMIRA, Rio Tinto and Worsley Alumina and include :

  • Modelling of bath flows and chemical reactions in Aluminium reduction cells,
  • Lead CFD work for the Dry Slag Granulation project,
  • Modelling of the HIsmelt iron ore reduction process,
  • Prediction and validation of two phase flow in a solvent extraction (SXT) settler,
  • Modelling gas-liquid flow through a sonic-nozzle and interaction with a fluidised bed,
  • Prediction of slurry drying and gas flow in rotary dryers,
  • Modelling of brown coal combustions in Yallourn power station furnace,
  • CFD modelling of gas-particle flow is a fluidised bed coker,
  • CFD modelling of slurry flow in thickeners,

Secretary for the 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 7th and Chairman for the 9th and 11th International Conference on CFD in the Minerals and Process industries. www.cfd.com.au/cfdconf
Authored 31 journal publications, 74 conference papers and over 120 technical reports for industry.
