Biography

Dan has been with CSIRO since 2016 establishing and managing collaborative industrial energy research across methane, renewables and now hydrogen. He was Deputy Director for the GISERA onshore gas environmental and social science research program for five years turning a $10m research program in Queensland to a $36m national program connecting industry, policy, and local communities across six states and territories. In 2021 he took up managing the $5m International Hydrogen Research Collaboration Program funded by the Australian government to help address the considerable uncertainties in the hydrogen industry around cost, efficiency, and developing at scale. Dan is also a member on the CSIRO Responsible Innovation Steering Committee. Prior to CSIRO, Dan held various roles in clean energy development across industry and government including sustainability manager for Origin energy, traded energy at Tullett Prebon, and worked for the NSW and Queensland governments at the director level. He holds a Master of Environmental Law, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Economics
