Biography
Mohammad Ali Armin received his PhD in Computer Science, specialising in medical imaging and computer vision, from the University of Canberra in collaboration with CSIRO’s Australian eHealth Research Centre in 2017. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61 in Canberra, following the completion of his postdoctoral research at CSIRO in 2019.
His research focuses on computer vision and machine learning, with particular emphasis on generative models, image enhancement, and domain adaptation. He has applied these methods to a range of real‑world challenges, including medical imaging, underwater vision for coral reef monitoring, industrial inspection, and biosecurity. His work has led to high‑impact publications, a US‑registered patent, successful industry collaborations, and contributions to nationally significant research programs. He is actively involved in supervising students, mentoring researchers, and leading applied research projects with academic and industry partners.
