Biography
Ejaz Ahmed is currently a Senior Research Scientist in Cybersecurity and Team Lead of Automated Security at CSIRO. Previously, he served as a Research Professor at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, from June 2015 to May 2018. He holds an M.S. degree from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, and earned his Ph.D. from Kyung Hee University, South Korea, in February 2014.
Ejaz’s expertise lies at the intersection of AI and software security, where he leverages artificial intelligence to tackle critical challenges in both open-source and closed-source software environments. His work spans open-source software supply chain security, closed-source malware binary analysis and reverse-engineering, ransomware behaviour analysis and detection, threat hunting, digital forensics, program analysis, and machine learning. He has led multiple projects in this field and spearheaded the development of several key technologies relevant to these areas.
He has received several awards, including the prestigious and competitive CSIRO Julius Career Award in 2024, which is designed to enhance the careers of exceptional Early to Mid-Career Researchers.
