Biography

Over 20 years of experience engaging across breadth of a complex research enterprise, including the research environment, executive and board functions, strategy and performance, government and industry engagement, infrastructure and property, finance, operations, risk and governance.

Builds strong relationships and forms high-functioning, multidisciplinary teams to navigate challenging and ambiguous circumstances. Deep commitment to collaboration, combined with a willingness to listen, challenge assumptions and deliver innovative solutions based on data and lateral thinking. Capacity to manage competing demands and deal with ambiguity, urgency and complexity.

Accomplished scientist and communicator, with a research background in nutrition and health. Collaborates with small and large companies, industry groups, NGO’s and government. Conceives, develops and validates innovative products, programs and resources for better nutrition, health and economic benefit.

Author of CSIRO Women’s Health & Nutrition Guide, CSIRO Protein Plus, CSIRO Wellbeing Plan for Kids, and contributing author the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet, which sold over 1 million copies in Australia. Awarded a CSIRO Medal for Research Excellence for the Total Wellbeing Diet and CSIRO Medal Entrepreneurship for creating V2 foods.

Big picture, critical thinker. Finds the positives in a world of constant and rapid change.

Currently the Executive Officer within the Future Industries sector, whose portfolios deliver science and innovation to the industries and enterprises that underpin Australia's health, biosecurity, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, to protect and grow Australia's socioeconomic prosperity and trust in science.

Jane joined the CSIRO Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Council in 2025.
