Biography
Dr Anthea Coggan is a senior economist with CSIRO Environment based in Brisbane, Australia. Anthea's research focuses on the design and analysis of economic instruments to generate improved land management for environmental outcomes. Anthea has extensive experience understanding the design intricacies of conservation auctions and biodiversity offsets and is an expert in understanding the extent, drivers and distribution of transaction costs in environmental policy development and implementation. With an increasing focus on catchments to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Anthea is advancing the application of economic science to water quality management in the GBR, influencing the way catchment managers fund, design and implement incentive schemes for improved land management. Anthea leads the coordination of CSIRO’s GBR focussed social science.
