Biography

Cassandra is a Torres Strait Island woman who grew up in Millmerran on the Darling Downs. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Education (Honours) research degree, focusing on how to better engage young Indigenous women in STEM by embedding Indigenous knowledges, technologies and processes in STEM learning.

She is committed to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people engaged and STEM education and employment and has an interest in Indigenist Research approaches and methods and their application to STEM education.

Cassandra has worked in a range of sectors including: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs, community development, child protection, Indigenous Housing, community engagement and working with young people.
She also has extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and undertaking program management and service delivery roles.
