Biography

Dr Aysha Fleming is an environmental social scientist (sociologist) based in Hobart, Tasmania. Dr Fleming brings an academic background in adult education, social research in agriculture, communication of climate change and rural sociology. She is particularly interested in language and engaging rural communities with learning and change and in social transformations for sustainability. Her particular expertise is in climate adaptation and discourse analysis (language analysis), understanding values and cross sectoral analysis (agriculture, fisheries, forestry). She is currently working on projects to do with natural capital accounting, and climate services for agriculture (climate forecasting). She has previously worked on digital agriculture, social indicators in sustainability, and how we can increase the numbers of trees on farms for multiple benefits, as well as climate change adaptation in the wine industry and in marine supply chains.

Other Interests

Dr Aysha Fleming is also interested in food security, climate change perceptions and adaptations and social dimensions of agriculture and agricultural supply chains.
