Biography
Emlyn Jones is a marine scientist specialising in data assimilation and operational oceanography. Emlyn has published 40+ papers and reports on topics including the prediction of coastal hydrodynamics and water quality, observing system design and evaluation, rapidly relocatable modelling systems and the use of Bayesian methods to quantify uncertainty in model predictions.
Emlyn is presently the Team Leader of the Coastal Hydrodynamic Modelling Team and is the Marine Environmental Prediction and Informatics Domain leader. He leads a number of projects that are introducing new functionality into the Bluelink Relocatable Ocean and Atmosphere (ROAM) modelling system. Emlyn is a member of the OceanPredict Marine Ecosystems Analysis and Prediction Tast Team (MEAP-TT) and is on the steering committee for CoastPredcit, a UN Decade of the Ocean Program.
