Biography
Sreekanth joined the Water Security Program of CSIRO Land and Water in 2012. He completed his PhD from James Cook University and has experience in modelling, uncertainty analysis, optimization, monitoring and management of groundwater systems. Prior to moving to Australia, he worked as water resource engineer at Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI).
His research in Australia focuses on groundwater modelling and uncertainty analysis for the assessment, monitoring and management of the impacts of onshore gas and mining developments on groundwater resource. As the projects leader, he leads the design, development and delivery of several groundwater modelling, risks assessment and management projects for GISERA, an alliance of CSIRO with federal and state Governments and gas industry of Australia.
Internationally, Sreekanth leads groundwater modelling activities in South Asia (India, Bangladesh) as part of Australian Government’s ACIAR and Sustainable Development Investment Portfolio research aimed at increasing food, water and energy security in South Asia a and through other research initiatives.
