Biography

Sahan is an early career researcher with an underlying passion in experimental and technical aspects of molecular biology and expanding its limits to answer difficult questions. He has joined CSIRO as a research technician to help the ANFC team to understand the taxonomic diversity and population structures of Australia’s threatened and endangered fishes and sharks, and how this information can be used for biodiversity assessments, management, and conservation. Sahan previously completed a PhD at the University of Tasmania in the field of astrobiology, studing polar extremophilic microbes and the sea ice environment to explore the potential for life to exist elsewhere in our Solar System and beyond.
