Sarah King is a senior research consultant working at CSIRO. Sarah’s research interests are innovation networks, industrial symbiosis and the circular economy. Sarah has authored reports at the intersection of science and innovation to influence policy and industry such as; Advanced recycling technologies to address Australia’s plastic waste, National circular economy roadmap for Australia, opportunities for lithium battery recycling in Australia, opportunities for Australian manufacturers in Asia; strategic innovation priorities for the Australian chemicals and plastics industry and Australian sustainable manufacturing priorities.

Sarah developed and delivered ASPIRE, Australia's first circular economy matchmaking marketplace that helps business divert waste from landfill, create new collaborations and gain access to sustainable business networks. ASPIRE spun out of CSIRO in 2019 and now operates across Australia and Hong Kong. Sarah also led the highly successful pilot of Lean Launch Pad (LLP) into Australia through CSIRO and is a USA trained LLP practitioner. LLP is an entrepreneurial, start-up program for CSIRO researchers. Sarah was involved in designing, planning and facilitating LLP in Melbourne and Sydney, including recruiting CSIROs first external entrepreneurship mentors. Sarah’s efforts were critical in establishing the CSIRO ON/PRIME program which has been highly successful and since been implemented across CSIRO and Australia.

Sarah has 20+ years’ experience working in the Manufacturing, R&D, Forestry, Agriculture and IT sectors. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Forestry Science from Canterbury University and a Masters in Corporate Environmental Sustainability Management from Monash University. Sarah completed her PhD at Swinburne University of Technology researching inter-organisational innovation networks, industrial symbiosis, circular economy and sustainability transitions.
