Biography

Dr Taryn Kong is a research scientist applying expertise in cross-cultural, mixed methodology and transdisciplinary research to innovate solutions for sustainability challenges. She integrates knowledge brokering approaches in her research to drive greater and more purposeful impact from science. She applies qualitative and quantitative research methods and systems perspective to gain more a holistic understanding of complex problems. Her growing research portfolio include circular economy transition management, regional economic development in mining communities, protecting the future of the GBR, reducing plastic waste, and Indigenous economic development. Her professional training and experience in accounting, environmental sciences, and anthropology allows her to successfully work within all parts of the innovation ecosystem from developing new business models through to embedding change within a broader system.
