Biography
Shoko joined CSIRO in 2006 as a postdoctoral fellow, on a project with the Crop Biofactories Initiative (CBI) involving molecular biology of insect silks. Her later role as part of CBI was focused on metabolic engineering of lipid synthesis and accumulation pathways in agricultural crops. She joined the Metabolomics Team at its conception in 2012, while leading the CBI team located at Ecosystem Sciences (now Land and Water). Current interests span plant seed oil synthesis and accumulation, industrial and medical fatty acid production in transgenic platforms, structure-function relationships and evolutionary biology of lipid modification enzymes, and more recently plant metabolomics.
Other Interests
Shoko likes to spend time out in the bush during weekends, is a keen native orchid enthusiast and ultimate disc player.
