Biography

Anna graduated with a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics (Exercise science) with Honours in 2004. She then worked developing and implementing nutrition and health programs for Compass Group Australia across Australia and Papua New Guinea. Anna worked with Menzies School of Health Research for three years. She was as part of a team developing a Nutrition platform to assess the implementation of nutrition programs across Southeast Asia and developing a health workers program that were trialled with East Timorese and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Anna completed a Masters in Health Education and Promotion at Maastricht University (2015), awarded with a Maastricht High Potential scholarship. Anna conducting her PhD in Thailand with Adelaide University (2018). She utilised co-creation principles to support the development of the nutrition component of a multisite nutrition sensitive agricultural program. During her PhD she received a Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Award and an Australian Postgraduate Award.
Post PhD, Anna completed a post-doctorate with the National Institute of Health and Nutrition Japan, investigating mindful eating. She returned to Australia and worked with the Southgate Institute, Flinders University, on social determinants of Health and policy. More recently Anna has been looking into the use of digital health technologies at Flinders University. Anna has also completed contract work for Nutrition Research Australia, involving collating the evidence for food industry. Anna has recent clinical dietetic experience working with people with disabilities and has been involved in policy research surrounding sugar and artificially sweetened beverages at SAHMRI.
Anna is currently conducting a CSIRO postdoctoral Fellowship in precision mHealth at CSIRO. This Fellowship involves the extension of the Mother digital platform to help with prevention and treatment of health concerns during pregnancy, such as diabetes and hypertension.

Other Interests

Anna is interested in sports, the outdoors, being in nature, sustainable approaches, cross-cultural understanding, life long learning and positive psychology.
