Biography

Dr Ryan is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO. He was appointed as a Research Scientist at CSIRO in 2001, with subsequent promotions to Senior Research Scientist in 2003, Principal Research Scientist in 2007 and Senior Principal Research Scientist in 2013. His roles have included Project Leader (2002-current), Stream Leader (2006-2014), Group Leader - Biomedical Synthetic Chemistry (2014-2018) and Research Director - Biomedical Manufacturing (2018-2021).

Dr Ryan received his PhD in synthetic organic chemistry from The University of Melbourne in 1994. He completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Utah (1994-1996) and James Cook University (1996-1998). He was a lecturer at the University of Tasmania (1998-2000) and a research and development chemist at the Institute of Drug Technology Australia (2000-2001).

Other Interests

Research interests: synthetic organic chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, 1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition chemistry, reactive intermediates, process chemistry, continuous flow processing, medicinal chemistry, fragment based drug discovery
