Biography
Greg Smith is an environmental economist and multidiscipline collaborator at CSIRO based in Hobart. Greg is dedicated to delivering high-impact economics research that enables governments and businesses to integrate the value of the environment into their decision making. Greg’s research specialises in ecosystem/natural capital accounting, natural capital risk assessment, and the valuation of ecosystem services, with expertise in the design of payments for ecosystem services schemes, integrated environment-economy modelling, and optimal spatial patterns of land use. Currently Greg is working on projects for government and industry developing natural capital and ecosystem accounts at the corporate, regional, and national scale.
