Biography
Joel is Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Curtin University. His research interests relate to the experimental and theoretical aspects of rock physics, geomechanics and geophysics, e.g., fluid/rock interactions, anisotropy, micro-mechanics, poroelasticity and its extensions, frequency effects, shales, micro-seismicity.
He applies his expertise to multiple industry- and government-funded research projects in the Energy Sector, e.g., CO2 geo-sequestration, Carbon geo-mineralisation, Natural gas & Hydrogen geo-storage, Exploration for and Production of Hydrogen and Natural gas, Induced/Triggered seismicity associated with anthropogenic subsurface operations.
