Biography

Kaveh is a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO. He earned his PhD from Imperial College London in 2011, followed by a three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of South Australia, jointly appointed with CSIRO. In 2022, he was awarded the CSIRO Julius Career Award and was an invited candidate for the prestigious Eni Award.
Kaveh’s research spans a broad spectrum of computational modeling disciplines and spatial–temporal scales — from quantum-level molecular simulations to turbulence-resolving computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flow modeling, and long-term Darcy-scale transport in heterogeneous porous media. He also has extensive research experience in analytical fluid dynamics and advanced engineering mathematics.
This multiscale capability enables Kaveh to address complex environmental challenges across nanoseconds to millennia, and nanometers to kilometers — including molecular-scale interfacial behavior of PFAS, natural source zone depletion (NSZD) of petroleum hydrocarbons, coupled multiphysics contaminant transport, and geological disposal of radioactive waste.
Kaveh also has conducted research and published work at the University of Cambridge and ETH Zurich. He also holds an adjunct appointment as Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University, Australia.
