Biography
Claire Trenham is a Senior Experimental Scientist leading the Coastal Extremes Modelling & Projections (CEMP) team within CSIRO’s Climate Science Centre, and is a Digital and Data Lead for the Climate Intelligence programme.
Claire Trenham joined CSIRO Marine & Atmospheric Research in 2011 working on wave climate modelling for Australian, Pacific and global contexts. After a period working as Senior Research Data Services Specialist for the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) in Canberra between 2014-2017, Claire returned to CSIRO’s Oceans and Atmosphere in 2017 working with the Sea level, Waves and Coastal Extremes team alongside the Regional Climate team. Claire works on coastal extremes modelling, littoral and wave modelling, regional climate projections, data management and publishing, and other climate data work across the business unit.
Current work contributes to the Australian Climate Service, NESP2 Climate Systems Hub, and leading an activity in the Bluelink NextGen Littoral Prediction project, as well as contributing support to a number of other projects in the team (e.g. VanKIRAP, PPBCHA, COWCLIP) and the IM&T Managed Data Ecosystem, and contributing to a number of cross-institutional working groups around data management and The Future of Meetings.
In a past life Claire was a radio astronomer, and is also a qualified high school maths/science teacher. Claire is mathematically minded, loves puzzles and problem solving, is adept with linux and HPC systems, and enjoys sharing an enthusiasm for maths and science.
