Biography

Dr. Ha Truong is an Aquaculture Nutritionist at CSIRO. Ha specialises in the nutrition of prawns and fish, focusing on evaluating diets and ingredients, enhancing nutrient uptake and understanding digestive processes. Her research is practical, targeting sustainable solutions for Australian aquaculture industry challenges.

Her projects include investigating the bioactive components of NovaqPro for prawn feeding as part of a CSIRO-Ridley research alliance, Kickstart projects with Australian SMEs to investigate novel feed ingredients including by-products suchs as mussel meal and food waste streams and internally funded projects with focus on the development of tools/techniques for waste valorisation (fermentation, decision support tools, Northern Australian opportunities).

Ha graduated from CSIRO Data School 2.0 and has proficiencies in data management, analysis tools and visualisation.

Ha completed a PhD on nutrient digestion dynamics where broiler chickens were the principle model (University of Sydney). Ha is applying similar concepts to aquaculture species to increase the understanding of nutrient utilisation in these species and develop more tools to assess feed quality.
