Biography

At CSIRO Futures, Katherine advises clients on the emerging trends and technologies shaping industries while designing responsive strategies for more informed investment decisions. Based on thorough research and extensive stakeholder consultation, she identifies technologies that are likely to have significant economic impact, and quantifies this impact in terms of expected domestic and export revenue as well as potential environmental and other cost savings.

While at CSIRO Futures, Katherine has led the delivery of several reports, including the:
- Growth opportunities for Australian food and agribusiness report
- COVID-19: Recovery and resilience report
- Value of science and technology report
- Unlocking the innovation potential of Australian companies report (produced in partnership with the Business Council of Australia)
- Quantifying Australia's returns to innovation working paper
- Australia's National Protein Roadmap
- Reshaping Australian Food Systems Roadmap

She also leads the CSIRO Economic Outlook series and was an author on the Australian National Outlook 2019.

Prior to joining CSIRO, Katherine worked at Deloitte Access Economics, initially providing investment analysis and policy advice to multiple sectors and then helping to lead the agricultural economics practice. She drove a portfolio of major projects with multiple work streams, team members and communication touchpoints; often requiring the translation of complex analysis and research into a business context for a diverse set of stakeholders.

Katherine holds a PhD in Economics which she completed with Agriculture Victoria and the University of Melbourne with a research focus on R&D investment in the field of agricultural biotechnology. Katherine also holds a Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Laws, and Diploma of Language (French) from Monash University.
