Biography

At CSIRO Futures, Katherine advises clients on the emerging trends and technologies shaping industries while designing responsive strategies for more informed investment decisions. Based on thorough research and extensive stakeholder consultation, she identifies technologies that are likely to have significant economic impact, and quantifies this impact in terms of expected domestic and export revenue as well as potential environmental and other cost savings.

Katherine began her consulting career with Deloitte and Deloitte Access Economics, providing investment analysis and policy advice to multiple sectors. She drove a portfolio of major projects with multiple work streams, team members and communication touchpoints; often requiring the translation of complex analysis and research into a business context for a diverse set of stakeholders.

After five years’ consulting experience at Deloitte, she completed a PhD in Economics with Agriculture Victoria and the University of Melbourne with a research focus on R&D investment in the field of agricultural biotechnology. On completion, she returned to Deloitte Access Economics to help lead their agricultural economics practice before joining CSIRO Futures in early 2018.

Katherine holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Economics and Diploma of Language (French) from Monash University and a PhD in economics from the University of Melbourne.
