Biography

Ran Wei is Research Scientist/Engineer at DATA61, CSIRO. He is a project leader in AIM FSP and a member of the Imaging and Computer Vision (ICV) Research Group, part of the Cyber-Physical Systems Research Program. He received his Ph.D. of Engineering (Robotics) from the Australian National University in 2006. In 2007, he joined National ICT Australia (NICTA). His research interests include hyperspectral Spectroscopy and imaging technologies, neural networks, computer vision applications in robotics and computer vision hardware/software research and development. He has over 15 years of experience in software development. Currently, he is working on the development of the underwater optical instrument platform which integrates hyperspectral cameras and various sensors together which aims to conduct in-situ computer vision data acquisition tasks in benthic habitats.
