Biography
Dr/Mrs Kun Yang is research team leader for High Resolution Processing team. She started in CSIRO Manufacturing in mid 2017 as a research scientist within the former Metal Industries Program and current Advanced Materials and Processing Program, with expertise in general materials selection and characterization, material design, and process control in material processing with a focus on high resolution processing:
1. understanding of processing parameters and thermal history effects on microstructure-property relationship of alloys and metallic composites produced by additive manufacturing;
2. metamaterials/smart structure design and manufacturing for space and medical applications;
3. tooling material selection and development for thermo-mechanical processing of metallic materials;
4. biomedical Mg alloy design for 3D printing.
She is the primary supervisor for two CERC postdoc fellows on design and manufacture of smart shape memory alloys/structures, one ResearchPlus postgraduate student on High strength Mg alloy design for 3D printing, one CSIRO-RMIT Research Masters student on High entropy alloy design using off-specification recycled metal powders.
