Biography
Dr Liming Zhu leads CSIRO’s Data61, the digital and AI arm of Australia’s national science agency, and is a conjoint professor at UNSW. A recognised leader in AI engineering and responsible AI, he operates at the intersection of AI research, national capability, and global governance. Dr Zhu represents Australia in the International AI Safety Science Report and contributes to OECD.AI on Risks and Accountability, ISO AI standards, and Australia’s AI Safety Standards and Guidance.
He has published over 400 papers and delivered influential keynotes, including “Software Engineering as the Linchpin of Responsible AI” at ICSE 2023. His books, Responsible AI: Best Practices for Creating Trustworthy AI Systems and Engineering AI Systems: Architecture and DevOps Essentials, reflect his vision for the rigorous engineering of responsible, safe, and impactful AI systems.
