Biography
Dr Alexandra Bratanova is a Senior Research Scientist within the CSIRO’s Data61 Insight team. Alexandra holds a PhD in economics from the University of Queensland (2015) and a Candidate of Economic Sciences (equivalent to PhD) from Moscow City Government University of Management (2013).
Alexandra’s PhD developed and applied techniques of multiple criteria analysis and levelised cost of energy to resolve complex policy dilemmas within the energy sector. She is an environmental economist and her research interests span economics and decision sciences in technology development and adoption.
Since joining CSIRO in 2016, Alexandra co-authored over 30 research reports for public and private sector organisations, including "Our Future World" launched in July 2022. Alexandra played a key role in the strategic foresight projects investigating future trends and scenarios for Australian labour force, disruptive digital technologies and digital infrastructure, future skills requirements for the construction industry and vocational education, future of transport and energy sectors, trends and clusters of artificial intelligence innovation.
In 2018 Alexandra lead a research project for the Australian Computer Society exploring the future scenarios for blockchain adoption in Australia. In 2021 Alexandra co-led a section of a research project developing and applying MCA to prioritise policy actions for Australia-Indonesia trade in health sector.
