Biography

Paul has been with CSIRO for over fifteen years leading research into the extraction of gold and other precious metals from ores, and providing services to the gold industry in the sustainable use of the cyanidation process and in the development and uptake of non-toxic alternative in thiosulfate.

Paul has over 25 years experience in gold hydrometallurgy research and process optimisation, including:
• Cyanidation of copper-gold ores and concentrates and the impact of sulfide minerals.
• Cyanide analysis, deportment and speciation.
• Cyanide destruction and recycle processes.
• Thiosulfate process development as an alternative to cyanidation, including application to gold concentrates and in situ recovery.

Services provided to the gold industry include (see also attachments below):
• Gold deportment investigations (troubleshooting, recovery optimisation)
• Cyanide analysis (cyanide speciation, training coarse)
• Cyanide management (reagent optimisation, cyanide destruction/recycle evaluations, site reviews)
• Carbon management (troubleshooting/evaluations, optimisation, carbon activity measurement and characterisation, coarse/workshop, operation reviews)
