Biography

Jeffrey Dambacher is a principal research scientist with CSIRO in Tasmania, Australia, and is part of the Ecological and Environmental Risk Assessment Team. Early career work was as a stream-fish and watershed ecologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Current research focuses on theoretical developments and practical applications of qualitative mathematics to better understand, predict and intervene in complex ecological and socioeconomic systems. This work has led to improved methods to identify informative ecological indicators, assess cumulative impacts and integrate monitoring programs for data-poor ecosystems (e.g., Kakadu National Park and marine ecosystems of Australian Commonwealth waters and the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area).
