Dr Nikki Dumbrell

Nikki seeks to engage in research guided by the question: how do we use and manage natural resources, and make decisions to achieve sustainability in a time of significant environmental change? This includes work in two main areas: (1) understanding how natural resource use consequences are understood and experienced by different stakeholders and thus understand and build the incentives to disrupt or maintain the status quo; and (2) the effectiveness of different information, policies or other (dis)incentives to encourage alternative resource use decisions.

Currently Nikki's work is assessing the value of information and the centrality of place in engagements with land sector sustainability investments, policies, and markets. Nikki is also expanding the information used in sustainability investment decisions beyond financial returns and the cost-effectiveness of environmental outcomes and working in interdisciplinary teams to identify and operationalise meaningful indicators, reporting and decision frameworks for sustainable agriculture and land restoration.
