Biography
Dr Laura Herraiz Borreguero is a research scientist with CSIRO Environment working in ocean dynamics and its impact on climate and the marine ecosystem. Her scientific interests are documenting and understanding the ocean circulation, variability and change, and its interaction with other parts of the Earth's systems.
Her work has elucidated the importance of key ocean processes including ice shelf-ocean interactions and the link between Southern Ocean variability and change and future rate of sea level rise. She is the Australian representative in the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) physical group "Forum for Research Into Ice Shelf-Ocean Interactions Processes".
Prior to Joining CSIRO, Laura worked at the National Oceanographic Centre (UK) as a Marie Curie Fellow, the Centre for Ice and Climate - Neils Bohr Institute (Denmark), and The Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC (Australia). She completed her PhD at the University of Tasmania (Australia).
