Biography

Stefan is a Chief Research Consultant at CSIRO. He leads advisory work and frontier research in emerging technology, strategy, and foresight. His work helps governments and businesses navigate future trends, adopt new technologies, explore the future, and make high-stakes decisions.

For the past decade, Stefan's research has centred on artificial intelligence (AI). He authored Australia's national AI Roadmap and AI Ethics Framework. Today, he directs initiatives across AI strategy, policy, investment, and workforce transition, specialising in helping organisations translate complex AI capabilities into practical, productive applications.

Beyond AI, Stefan shapes strategies and policies for tech industry growth and transition. He is a highly sought-after speaker and facilitator, backed by intensive communication and media residency training at NIDA and the ABC. He regularly delivers international keynotes, advises senior leaders, and translates rigorous empirical evidence into practical corporate strategy and government policy.

Stefan is widely published in peer-reviewed journals across technology foresight, strategy, decision theory, and economics. He is author of the top selling management strategy book "global megatrends" by CSIRO Publishing. His global standing is reflected in invitations to the World Economic Forum’s Global Foresight Community and the OECD Government Foresight Community.
