Biography

Simon is an experimental scientist whose research focuses on sustainable aquaculture production. He has over twenty years of research experience with tropical aquaculture species. He has worked with numerous crustacean species, including tiger prawns and spiny lobsters in Australia, Vietnam and Indonesia. In recent years, he has authored or contributed to key technical reports which have examined the viability of aquaculture in northern Australia.

Simon leads the Aquaculture Biology Team, with scientists based at the Bribie Island Research Centre (QLD) and the Berrimah site in Darwin (NT). A key focus area for the team involves exploring the viability of low input prawn farming for indigenous communities in remote areas of Northern Australia.
