Biography

Dr Timothy Jones was promoted to Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO Energy in 2021. He holds a PhD in applied electrochemistry/materials science. His work is published in 31 peer-reviewed publications across the fields of perovskite, dye-sensitised and organic solar cells, electrochemistry, battery materials, and inorganic chemistry.

He is the technical leader of CSIROs perovskite solar cell upscale project. He is the inventor of the underlying patent, which offers cost-competitive perovskite fabrication through hybrid chemical vapour deposition designed explicitly for scale-up and integration into existing silicon PV infrastructure. His research interests involve elucidating structure-performance relationships of energy materials. Career funding to date totals $2.68M. He is a previous recipient of a prestigious Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) fellowship, targeting the development of emerging future solar energy research leaders. In 2019 he was an ambassador of the Young Scientist Exchange Program, a bilateral program to facilitate building and maintaining collaboration networks with Australia's most extensive collaborator, China.
