Biography
Dane Kasperczyk is a senior civil engineer working in the Energy Resources group. His focus areas are subsurface monitoring for energy storage, rock pre and post-conditioning and applying digital tools for impact (data automation/cloud storage/visualisation/ML). Dane has held a range of roles in CSIRO including rock mechanics lab manager, leading field teams in preconditioning and monitoring for block cave mines, converting research code to deploying complex research code as easy software solutions and automating field data workflows.
Dane has contributed to a range of projects the in fields of:
- Subsurface energy storage
- Hydrogen seep tracking
- Data automation and workflow including HPC, cloud, python, ML, SQL databases and internal and external web portals and online monitoring SaaS
- Subsurface injection mechanics modelling
- Novel experimental design and testing
- Field scale injection preconditioning (block cave, sublevel cave, underground)
- Seismic mitigation trials using hydraulic fracturing in mines
- Subsurface monitoring
- Hydraulic fracturing environmental risks and environmental risk assessments
