Biography
Bruce Murray is a field vegetation ecologist with CSIRO land and water.
Bruce Murray has a background in riverine and wetland ecology with a focus on floodplain vegetation in dryland river ecosystems. Past research interests include vegetation response to unpredictable environmental conditions and the life history traits that facilitate survival of plant species in systems subject to extreme variability. Specifically, Bruce’s PhD research interests included plant population genetics, gene flow and mechanisms of plant dispersal, as well as associated implications for plant community resilience in the face of changing climate conditions.
Bruce has extensive experience carrying out field sampling and surveys for projects designed to answer questions within the fields of vegetation ecology, weed management, grazing practices, population genetics, paleoecology, aquatic food web dynamics, environmental flow response and zooplankton community studies.
Current project interests include vegetation landscape condition monitoring in Great Barrier Reef catchment areas, climate resilient revegetation, best practice management techniques for the reduction of sediment and nutrient loss and drone-based aerial LiDAR scanning.
