Biography

Cathy is a Senior Food Microbiologist and Food Safety and Stability Group Leader with CSIRO Agriculture and Food. Through her various roles at CSIRO Cathy has developed extensive knowledge and expertise in the microbiology of a wide range of foods and food processes. She provides expert professional services and advice to assist industry and government with matters relating to food safety hazard identification and characterisation, risk assessment and management of the microbiological safety, stability and quality of food.

Cathy is actively involved with the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST; www.aifst.asn.au) and recently elected as a fellow of the Institute in recognition of her years of service to the food industry. In this capacity, she has contributed to organisation and presentations at Australian Food Microbiology Conferences and AIFST Conventions as well as the AIFST Green Book and Gold Book publications. Cathy is also Vice President of the Food Safety Information Council (FSIC; www.foodsafety.asn.au), Australia’s leading disseminator of consumer-targeted food safety information.
