Biography
Hailing from Canada, Rebecca (Becki) Montsion is comfortable in a canoe braving bears and mosquitoes while mapping remote wilderness. Her research aims to bridge gaps between traditional knowledge and data science techniques. Current projects focus on integrating multi-disciplinary datasets for prospectivity, mineral systems modelling, and accelerating drill logging methods. In previous work, she integrated airborne geophysics, petrophysics, geochemistry, and structural geology while mapping terranes ranging from complex Archean greenstone belts to Quaternary landforms. While working in Archean and Proterozoic settings, Becki captured a range of mineralization controls in magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE, volcanogenic Cu-Zn-Pb-Ag±Au massive sulphide (VMS), orogenic Au, and Sedimentary Exhalative (SEDEX) Ag-Fe-Pb-Zn mineral systems.
