Biography
Dr. Chiara Pasut is an environmental engineer specializing in greenhouse gas accounting and modeling soil biogeochemical cycles. With a strong background in computer modeling, she explores how carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur move through ecosystems across different spatial and temporal scales.
Before joining CSIRO in 2022, she focused on wetlands and global methane emissions. Now, she’s part of a research team investigating carbon sequestration in agriculture and rangelands, unpacking the impacts of climate change along the way.
Her work dives into the intricate connections between water, air, soil, and human activity, particularly in the context of soil biogeochemistry. Using computational techniques, she pinpoints regions most vulnerable to environmental change—whether at the farm scale or across entire continents.
