Biography

Megan is a Research Dietitian in the Nutrition and Behaviour team, with a background in clinical dietetics, community nutrition, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander health, and oral health. She has experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Her expertise includes systematic reviews, data analysis, nutrition interventions, health promotion, science communication, media relations, conducting surveys and interviews, dietary assessment, project management, and clinical and community trials.

Since joining CSIRO in 2016, Megan has contributed to a variety of scientific areas, including public health, behaviour change, wellbeing, preventive health, food sustainability, sensory science, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and app development. Her primary interest lies in developing and delivering interventions that enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Achievements include:
* Co-authoring the CSIRO Gut Care Guide (2021) and contributing to the Healthy Gut Diet and the Low-Carb Diet.
* Desseminating CSIRO's research outcomes through media appearances, including radio, podcasts, and print media platforms.
* Contributing to the evidence base with publications on dietary patterns, food sustainability and security, dietary assessment (CSIRO Diet Score), and behaviour change trials.
* Planning and executing nutrition interventions, including education sessions, cooking demonstrations, and clinical trial dietary protocols.
* Managing community-based trials with over 200 participants, testing smartphone apps, dietary and lifestyle habits, and behavioural science theories.
* Participating in the CSIRO ON Accelerate program, developing a point-of-care device to measure gut health.
