Biography

Joanne Vanderzalm is a Senior Research Scientist in the Water Security research program of CSIRO Environment. Her research interests include managed aquifer recharge (MAR) or 'water banking' to increase the resilience of agricultural and urban water supplies to drought, water reuse, water quality and assessment of biogeochemical reaction processes that can improve or degrade the quality of water resources.

Joanne joined CSIRO in 2003 after completing her PhD research at Flinders University on 'Hydrogeochemical processes during aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) with reclaimed water in a carbonate aquifer'. Prior to this Joanne had completed a Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Applied Science from Monash University and had worked in industrial and environmental chemistry.
