Biography

Dr. Arif Watto is an agricultural economist and extensionist specializing in research areas such as agricultural and natural resource efficiency and allocation, agricultural water management and policy, and environmental governance. He has held positions as a research officer at the University of Western Australia (UWA), a consultant with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), and an assistant professor at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Dr. Watto has contributed to numerous research, consultancy, teaching, and outreach projects.

Presently, Dr. Watto serves as a research scientist-water economist in the Environment business unit at CSIRO, Canberra. His current focus involves supporting evidence-based decision making regarding water trade-offs and assessing the social, economic, environmental, and cultural outcomes of enhanced water literacy among communities and governmental entities.
