Biography

Lucy is a Research Scientist with CSIRO Agriculture & Food, based in St Lucia, Queensland. An animal scientist by training, Lucy specialises in livestock and mixed-farming systems, with expertise spanning ruminant nutrition, livestock production, forage and dual-purpose crops, pasture systems, and whole-farm systems modelling.

Lucy joined CSIRO in 2018 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, before being appointed in 2021 as a Research Scientist. She has built a reputation for integrating livestock, crop and pasture sciences with systems-level thinking to address complex agricultural challenges, including sustainable livestock production, and resilient farm systems. Her science is based around delivering practical, evidence-based outcomes for producers, industry and policy makers.

Prior to joining CSIRO, Lucy completed her PhD at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga in pasture-livestock grazing systems and ruminant nutrition where she investigated the value of a second generation of annual pasture legumes in Australian mixed-farming systems. She grew up on a prime lamb and cropping property in central west NSW and has a strong connection to the agricultural industry. She enjoys engaging with industry and delivering science with impact.
