Biography
Mingze Xi is a Senior Experimental Scientist with the Data6 Interactive Imaging Research Team. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at The Australian National University.
Mingze’s research focuses on the intersection between immersive technologies (e.g., augmented/virtual reality), computer vision (CV), and human-robot interaction (HRI). This has led to his pioneering work in human-in-the-loop AI, particularly the Situated Imaging technique. This interactive spatial computing research combines augmented reality (AR) and computer vision (classification, detection, segmentation) with large foundational models (e.g., large vision-language models) to make human and robot better understand the world. This multidisciplinary approach will not only advance scientific knowledge but also create practical applications that improve safety, training, and efficiency needed by a wide range of industries.
