Biography
Ying Xia obtained her PhD degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Queensland in 2015. During her PhD research, she successfully developed novel methods for automated bone and cartilage segmentation from magnetic resonance (MR) images of the hip joint as well as 3D quantitative measurement of segmented bone and cartilage morphology.
Ying is currently research scientist at CSIRO and works on a number of research projects including the Australian Imaging, Biomarkers & Lifestyle (AIBL) study of ageing and the Prospective Image Study of Ageing (PISA), which focus on developing innovative methods to analyse medical data and to derive image biomarkers aiming to improve our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases.
