Biography

My main area of research is microbiology, with a particular focus on bacterial species of importance to food safety and/or stability. This includes studying the application of novel processing approaches such as High Pressure for extended shelf life of foods with retention of favourable sensory characteristics, while maintaining food safety. This includes the use of challenge trials for stability testing.

In addition I have extensive experience in media formulation for bacteriology.

I manage the day to day running of the Microbiology lab at Werribee, including student training and supervision.

Current Roles

  • Microbiology lab manager
    Oversee day to day running of the Microbiology lab. Ensure safety stations, equipment etc. is operational and coordinate contractors working in this area.
