Biography
Dr Gary Delaney is a Principal Research Scientist and leader of Data61's Computational Modelling Group at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Melbourne. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a PhD in Computational Physics in 2006. He then completed a postdoc at ANU's Applied Mathematics Department before joining CSIRO in 2008.
Gary's primary research interests are in computational modelling and structural characterization of granular systems, and applications of Machine Learning in understanding and optimizing natural and industrial processes. His work focusses both on the advancement of the science of computational modelling through leadership in the development and implementation of algorithmic techniques and the application of these technologies to problems of scientific and industrial importance.
