Biography

Jason Dowling is a Research Team Leader with the CSIRO Health and Biosecurity business unit, where he leads the [Medical Image Analysis] (https://aehrc.com/biomedical-informatics/medical-image-analysis/) research team. He also holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales, an Honorary Principal Fellow position with the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics at Wollongong University, and honourary positions at the Universities of Sydney (Institute of Medical Physics) and Newcastle (Mathematical and Physical Sciences). Based at the Australian e-Health Research Centre, located on the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital campus in Herston, Queensland, Jason and his team work closely with clinicians and industry partners to automatically analyse and report information from 3D medical images (incuding MRI, CT, PET) for disease diagnosis and monitoring, treatment planning, and treatment delivery. He is currently leading projects on MRI based radiation therapy treatment planning, radiation oncology clinical trial analysis and quality assurance, and non-invasive MRI-based lung structure and function assessment. Jason obtained his BAppSc and BComp(Hons I) from Monash University and his PhD from the Queensland University of Technology (2007). In 2019 he completed the International Space University Space Sciences Program (SSP19) in Strasbourg, France.
